Quil Ceda Village’s goal for this project is to reduce invasive species and seed sources for future mitigation projects and to perform maintenance and install additional plantings on existing restoration project areas.
Fill areas and areas along roads within the general former Boeing Test Site and the Coho Creek Restoration project riparian buffer areas need to be managed for control and reduction of reed canarygrass (Phalaris arundinacea), Himalayan blackberry (Rubus armeniacus, Evergreen blackberry (Rubus lacintus), jewelweed (Impatiens capensis), Japanese knotweed (Polygonum cuspidatum), Scotch broom (Cystisus scoparius), among other non- native invasives. Non- chemical management of reed canarygrass around existing plantings within the Coho Creek riparian buffer will also need to be conducted. Planting areas will need to be prepared within existing reed canarygrass areas and then planted with target species.
